The seven Dispensations of God's Grace

Syllabus for Dispensations & Future Events.
In this unit we will look at the Heart of God in the History and Future of Man.

Look up all references given, and summarize.  Let us remember every true Biblical doctrine is in harmony with the nature and character of God. See what you can learn of God's will and consider the fact we were made to be in His image and likeness. We will be looking at the history and future of man from the dispensational point of view as described in the Scriptures. This is an overview of the history and future of man as God sees it.

The word DISPENSATION comes from the "Greek word [Oikonoma] and means administration. stewardship. Managing of a household or estate. Consider Luke 16:2-4; 1 Cor. 9:17; Ephes. 3:2: Col. 1:25

God never changes the way to Him, which is by grace through faith, in His promised seed of the woman, Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord. "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephes. 2: 8-9

The Scriptures only define Belief, Faith, and Love, by action not words, alone, that mankind uses to deceive himself and others.

God has given mankind different ways to demonstrate that faith in Him at different times. These are times of different dispensations of God's grace. "That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:" Ephes. 1:10

Let us now look at the different times and ways (Dispensations) God gave to demonstrate faith in Him.  Note: Dates given are those used by Bible scholar Frank R Klassen and used in the Chronological Bible by Edward Reese when ? is shown are approximate.

A Study of
The 7 Dispensations of the Grace of God in the context of the book of Revelation.

1. THE DISPENSATION OF Innocence Gen. 2:7-S to 3:24  Time 3976 - 3972 B.C?   The origin of the human race when God made Adam and Eve and placed them in the garden of Eden. Gen. 1:26-28; 2:21-25  They were innocent: knowing only what God had said, and ignorant of evil having a moral nature and no tendency to sin.

RESPONSIBILITY = Opportunity to show faith in God.  To care for the garden, and accept God's sovereign authority as their creator by obeying God's command not to eat the fruit of the one forbidden tree. "And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of eden to dress it and to keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." Gen. 2:15-17

We should notice the name of that tree "the knowledge of good and evil" Did they already have that knowledge? Notice the knowledge of good that they had. They were in a perfect environment. Adam had dominion over all God had made for him. Gen.1:26  To eat of every tree in the garden [but the one that was forbidden] They had a perfect relationship and fellowship with their God.  A God given command for their protection from that deadly tree.  Remember: the knowledge of evil was given them! "for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" Thus the tree was poisonous to them, and they knew it. The choice was theirs to make.

FAILURE They ate of the forbidden tree, disregarding the authority and wisdom of God.

Note: their attempt to lay the blame on someone else Gen. 3:9-13 Eve was deceived by Satan, Adam deliberately disobeyed, Choosing fellowship with his wife above that with God.

That sin of using the free will, to put God second in their lives, is the sin of pride, it is the sin nature often called the flesh, that is passed on to all his posterity.

Consider: 2 Cor. 11:3 and 1 Tim. 2:4; Rom. 5: 14-19

JUDGEMENT The curse and death Gen 3: 7- 19  Expulsion from the garden and the presence of God.  Gen. 3:20-24

Notice the beginning of Jesus' credentials as the seed of promise Gen. 3: 15

God's righteous judgment abounded with His grace, by giving Adam and Eve and their descendents another chance to prove their trust in God as they await the coming Saviour.

Speaking of God's grace: Consider His putting the knowledge of His warfare with Satan and the coming saviour in the sky in hieroglyphics [picture writing] for all to see.  Genesis 1:16-18 "And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. [17] And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, [18] And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. Psalm 147:4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names. Psalm 19:1-6 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.[2] Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. [3] There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. [4] Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, [5] Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. [6] His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. Psalm 8:3-4 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; [4] What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?"

All of which is spoken of, it is the hieroglyphics [Picture writing] known by all the ancient civilizations, until it was perverted by Nimrod's wife Semiramis a priestus in their mystery Babylonian cult religion.   Consider the knowledge of this spoken of by Job, the oldest book in the Bible. Job 9:9-10 "Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south. [10] Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.  Job 26:13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.  The greatest marvel of all was Job's declaration . . . Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:" Praise God He is a faithful creator that put the gospel in the heavens for all to see and understand even before He made man. For there was no other preacher than God before Noah, Amen.

Did you know a system for hieroglyphs in the skies known as constellations was exhumed among the remains of Assyrians and Chaldeans.  The same things have been found among primitive peoples antedating the founding of Babel.  Some of the same kind of forms and designs were found on tablets in cuneiform in writings before Moses time.   Studies of ancient peoples understanding of constellations in their religious   elements in old civilizations such as Iranian or Mithras, Aryans, Bactrians, Indians, Medes, Persians, Chaldeans, Hindoos, Chinese, Egyptian, Romans, and Greeks, long before Jewish and Christian writings.  Investigators came to the same basic conclusion. That God preached His Gospel (Bible) in the stars, for all to understand and put their hope and faith in Him.   The need of a redeemer from mans bent to idolatry was spoken of in  2 Kings 23:5 "And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven."

Consider the Apostle Paul in Romans 1:17-20 " For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. [18] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; [19] Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. [20] For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Let us praise our faithful God [chapter 2]  You can learn more on this in the book written by Joseph A Seiss called "The Gospel in the Stars"

2. THE DISPENSATION OF CONSCIENCE  Gen. 4 to 8:12  Time 3972 - 2318 B.C. ? 1656 yrs. ? The history from Adam to Noah

RESPONSIBILITY = Opportunity to show faith in God. To do good and make blood sacrifice in remembrance of the cost of God's promised redemption. through the seed of the woman. Gen. 4:4 "Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them."  Gen. 3:21

Consider: John 1:29; Rev. 13:8

FAILURE Adam's first son Cain murdered his brother Abel. Gen 4:1-16,  Man's progressive wickedness Gen. 6:5-6, 11-12 during this time two family lines emerged.

1. The line of Cain Adam's 2nd son Gen. 4:1 is the line that chose to go leave God and go their own way. From this line came  the first murder and one that built first city. A line that did not look to God or His promise.

Enoch Gen. 4:17  Built a city.
Irad Gen. 4:18
Mehujael Gen. 4:18
Lamech Gen. 4:18 ---- first polygamist
Jabal Gen. 4:20
Jubal Gen.4:2 1
Tubalcain Gen, 4:22
Naamah Gen.. 4:22
2. The line of Seth Adam's 3rd son Gen 4:25  The line from which the seed of promise was to come, and be fulfilled, referred to as the son's of God. Gen. 6:1-2
Enos Gen. 5:6
Cainan Gen. 5:9
Mahalaleel Gen. 5:12
Jared Gen.. 5:15
Enoch Gen. 5:1 8-23 First person taken up alive to heaven.
Methuselah  Lived longer than any other man recorded Gen. 5:21-27    Lamech  Gen. 5:26-31 an ancestor of Christ  Luke 3:36.

ADAM & EVE have passed their sin nature (Satan's seed) to all their; descendants.  Gen. 2:15-3:14 cf. Rom. 5:16-21; 1 Cor. 15:21-22

Noah Gen. 5:28-32 Perfect in his generation during a time of moral darkness, and had 3 sons. Shem,  Ham and Japheth They took wives from the line of Cain referred to as the "daughters of men" Gen. 6:1-2

JUDGEMENT  The universal flood. Gen. 6:3-13 destroying every living thing except Noah's family  (Shem, Ham, Japeth & wives) in the ark, and the creatures that God sent into the arch Gen. 6:17-22, to 8:12

note: CAIN'S direct line was cut off by the flood.     CUSH  Sins of Cain amplified Ex.20:5, 34:7 cf 2 Chr. .22:3-4

Note: The ark of God built by Noah at God's command was a type of Christ, who saves all in Him from the judgment of God on sin.

Think about the manifold wisdom and grace of God in preserving the history of creation and man, and his relationship with God. Both his fall and promised redemption, in and to man by His preaching in the sky.

So let us regroup and get the big picture. Also note: Enoch was translated and all of the previous godly line of Seth had died leaving only Noah and his descendants. Noah's family was in the ark before the judgment which is a picture of God taking His church out before the Great Tribulation judgments on the inhabitants of this earth.

SHEM and his line  followed God and had faith in His promised seed.   He is Father of Semitic family of human race,  thus Father of Israelites.
EBER (First Hebrew)

TERAH (An idol maker)
The long life of the Patriarchs was another means of retaining the knowledge of God among men, creation,  Eden and the fall of man the working of Satan. Also a record of the promised seed of God that would defeat Satan and redeem man to his original place with God.

Therefore, there was a continual witness of the history of the wickedness of man and the grace of God. His promise of a redeemer to all the generations after the flood as they enter the next dispensation.  As the waters of the flood cut off the direct line of Cain the sin nature acquired from Adam was passed on through Noah to all his descendants after the flood.  Remember they took wives from the line of Cain amplifying the bent to sin, especially the lines of Ham and Japeth which fathered the heathen gentile nations. Nimrod had became the father of the cults and mystery religions, astrology, witchcraft, etc.

Consider NIMROD Founder of Babylonian Empire,  Babel-Erech-Accad & Calneh all the land  of Shinar (Iraq) including Nineveh in Asshur   (Assyria) Rehoboth - Calah -Ressen Babel-Erech-Accad &Calneh All the land of Shinar (Iraq)including Nineveh in Asshur (Assyria) Rehoboth - Calah - Ressen Nimrod's motive for building the tower was to unify all men through religion, of which he was the head as a "priest king" becoming the "Father of cults." Nimrod's wife, Semmamis (or Semiramis) was a priestess. Considered herself to be the mother of God, as she proclaimed her son Tammuz, to be the promised God & saviour of their world. She became the mother of cults and the Mystery Babylonian Religion which is still alive under the guise of Roman Catholicism. (See "Babylon the Mystery Religion" by Ralph Woodrow

3. THE DISPENSATION OF HUMAN GOVERNMENT Gen. .8:13 to 1 1:9  Time 2318-1891 B.C. ? The history of Noah's family and decedents, the only people to live both before and after the flood. Therefore Noah is known as the second human father of the human race.

This period covers the period after the flood to the dispersion of the races, languages, and development of religions.

RESPONSIBILITY: = Opportunity to show faith in God. [Read God's Covenant with Noah Gen. 8:20-22, 9:1-17]  They are to continue to have faith in the promised seed, trusting God to keep His promise and His covenant, to be fruitful, and multiply, scatter and replenish the earth Gen. 8:13 to 9:17

FAILURE: They did not scatter but built a city and a tower and sought to establish a name for themselves and to rule over all men in place of God. Gen.11:1-4.

JUDGMENT: Confusion of languages and dispersion of the people, before all the people were turned from their God. Gen. 11:5-9

The following is good to know and consider:   From this point we will only follow the covenant line.
Reu Gen. I 1:18
Serug Gen I l :20
Nahor Gen. 11:22
Terah Gen 11:24

Abraham Gen. 11:26  God's covenant with Abraham: "Now the LORD had said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." Genesis 12:1-3

4. THE DISPENSATION OF PROMISE Gen.11:10 to Exodus chapt.12
Time 1892-1462 B.C.?  The history of the patriarchal families, and the covenant line that carried the seed of promise approximately 430 Yrs.

RESPONSIBILITY:  Opportunity to show faith in God. by continuing to have faith in the promised seed trusting God to keep His promise and His covenants.
To Abraham Gen.12:1-3; reconfirmed Gen.13: 14-18
To Isaac Gen. 26:1-5
To Jacob Gen. 28:1-14, 35:10-12  To dwell in the land of Canaan. Gen. 12:1-2  Consider: Jer. 30:3; Gen.26:1-6, 17
FAILURE: Dwelt in Egypt Gen. 12:10, 46:6  Where many adopted the Egyptian culture and idolatrous worship of false gods.
Abraham in Egypt Gen. 12:10
Abraham in Gerar Gen. 20: 1
Isaac in Gerar Gen. 26: 1-6, 17
Israel in Egypt Gen 47:11
JUDGMENT: Egyptian bondage Exodus 1: 7- 14; 3: 7-8

5. THE DISPENSATION OF THE LAW Time 1462 B.C. to 29 A.D. From Moses receiving the law at Mt. Sinai to Christ on the cross at Calvary.

RESPONSIBILITY: To keep all the Law  "And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel; Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself. Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel. And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him. And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD bath spoken we will do. and Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD." Ex. 19:3-8  Consider: Deut. Chapters. 5-8:3

FAILURE: Broke the law, rejected Christ the seed of promise  "For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORI) their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt. from under the hand of pharaoh king of Egypt and had feared other gods, And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made. And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree: And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger: For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, ye shall not do this thing. Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments Acid my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets. Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God. And they rejected his statutes. and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them. And they left all the commandments of the LORD their god,and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD), to provoke him to anger. Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only. Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made. And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel. and afflicted them. and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight" 2 Kings 17:7-20  Consider: Matthew 27:1-25

JUDGEMENT: World wide dispersion from 70 A.D. to 1948 A.D.  "And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it. And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people. from the one end of the earth even unto the other, and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone. And among these nations shalt thou find no ease. neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind: And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:"  Deut. 28:63-66  Consider: Luke 19:41-44, 21:20-24

Consider the grace of God seen in His Promise to Israel. "And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the Lord. Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her. And I will give her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt. And it shall be at that day, saith the Lord, that thou shalt call me Ishi; [ My husband ] and shalt call me no more Baali. For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name. And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely. And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the Lord." Hosea 2:13-20
6. THE DISPENSATION OF THE CHURCH AGE Time 29 A.D. From Pentecost to the rapture of the church [the taking away of the church before the great tribulation date unknown]

RESPONSIBILITY: = Opportunity to show faith in God. By choosing to trust the Gospel and receiving Christ as Lord and Saviour, and walking in that faith.  That is demonstrated to God, by following Christ, abiding in Him and His Word, being led and empowered by His Holy Spirit. "But as many as received him to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."John 1:12-13  Consider: Mat. 7:21-23; John 10:25-30, 14: 15-24, 15: 1-6; Rom. 8: 1-16, 28-29; 2 Cor. 5: 14-21 Eph. 1:13: 23, 2: 6-22.
FAILURE: Reject Christ, trust works. "That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light. neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. . . . . . . . He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him" John 3:15-21 . . . Vs. 36  Consider: Rom. 3: 19-26; 2 Tim. 3: 1-8; 1 John 5:1 1-12; Rev.20:1-15

JUDGEMENT: Enter the Great Tribulation  "And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works, and the last to be more than the first. Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. And I will give him the morning star. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches" Rev.2:18-29  Consider: Rev. 3:14-22

Beware of who you listen to and follow!  "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Math. 7:21-23

8:13 to 9:17 Consider: 1 John 4:1; 2 Peter 1:20; 11 Cor. 2:13

Read the booklet "Faith on Trial"

Consider  "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:" 2 Peter 1:10 "For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost. But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire." 1 Thes. 2:13-17

"How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;" Hebrews 2:3

Read the book "See the Shepherd and Bishop of our Souls" by this author.
THE RAPTURE  Why I believe in the premillennial view of the taking up of the church.  History dictates it, as God's ways are the same today as in the past.  Consider the following: Enoch Gen. 5:1 8-23  First person taken up alive to heaven, time of moral darkness before the time of God's judgment.  Noah Gen. 5:28-32 Perfect in his generation during a time of moral darkness, in the ark above the judgment of the universal flood. The Apostle John taken up to heaven at the end of Jesus speaking to the church on earth, Rev. 4:1-11  Then begins the seven years of tribulation upon the earth.  After the world suffers the results of the consequences of their sin of rejecting Him,  Jesus comes back to earth with the saints to end the seven years of tribulation upon the earth and the great war of Armageddon.

This WILL BE the fulfilling of His promise OF victory over SATAN'S RULE ON EARTH. Then He sets up His millennial rule on earth, as the King of Kings, Amen.

This victorious taking away of the Church called the RAPTURE is looked forward to by the living family of God today.  " For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Rev. 19:13-16  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." 1 Thes. 4:16-18  Consider: 1 Cor. 15:51-52

The exact time is unknown:  However, it appears it will be before the great tribulation, known as Daniel's 70th week, a time of trouble.  There are also events of the church going on in heaven while the tribulation goes on upon the earth.  In as much as the church returns with Christ to earth for His millennial reign, therefore it must have already been taken away.  Rev. 19:13-16
The condition of the Worldly Church at that time is given. Scoffers Not believing Christ will come 2 Pet. 3:2-10

False doctrine and teachers 2 Tim. 4:3-4

Immorality as in the days of Noah. Mat. 24:37; 2 Pet. 2:4-8, 3:5-6

Apostasy worse & worse 1 Tim. 4:1, 2 Tim.3:13

Now lets look at the taking up of believers before the one world religion and government is established, in the context of the Book of Revelation given to John the Apostle.

the Taking up of believers

After the rapture of believers to heaven the first event for the church will be the Judgments seat of Christ. [not to be confused with the Great White Throne Judgment that takes place seven years later. They are all unbelievers, their sentencing is to the Lake of fire to be discussed later]

Family of God Bible Outlines on Biblical Christianity by Pastor Warren T. Smith © Revised 1997

These are incorruptible crowns. "And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. [Consider: Titus 1:8, 2:2] Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible." 1 Cor. 9:25  Consider: Gal. 5:22-25; 2 Pet. 1:3-10

1. The crown of righteousness. "Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." 2 Tim. 4:8 Consider: Romans 8:23; 1 Cor. 2:9; 2 Cor. 5:2; 1 Thes. 1:10; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 9:28; Rev. 1:7; Rev. 22:20;
2. The crown of life. "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him." James 1:12   Notice: those that endure temptation are those that love Him. Consider: James 1:12-14

3. The crown of rejoicing.  [For faithful ambassadors for Christ] "For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?"  1 Thes. 2:19  Consider: 2 Cor. 5:18-20; Philip. 2:16, 4:1; 2 Thes. 1:10-2:1 "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise." Proverbs 11:30

4. The crown of glory [for under-shepherds] "The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away." 1 Pet. 5:1-4   Consider: Matthew 20:25-28; Matthew 23:8-11; 1 Cor. 9:16-23
5.The martyrs crown. "Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life."  Rev. 2:10   Consider: John 15:18-21; Matthew 10:22; Luke 21:16-19; Mark 8:35, 13:13; Acts 20:24; 21:13
WARNING: Let no man take thy crown. "And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."  1 Cor. 9:5

Let no man take thy crown, But most of all to hear... Well done thou good and faithful servant.  Notice: The purpose of those that receive crowns will be to cast them down to the only one that deserves them, the LORD Jesus Christ. "The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." Rev. 4:10

What will you have to cast at His feet in honor of Him for all He is and all He has done for you?

Let's look at the big picture of the tribulation period.

Now LET'S LOOK on earth:

THE GREAT TRIBULATION  spoken of in Rev. 6: to 1 9: 21

The 7 year period between the 6th and 7th dispensations.

Time. From the rapture to Christ's second coming.

RESPONSIBILITY: Accept the gospel of Christ and aid the witnesses of Christ. "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." Math. 24:14_

This is the same gospel preached by John the Baptist when he proclaimed to Israel to repent and be prepared to receive their King, only now the invitation is extended to all nations. [ all peoples Jew and Gentile]  Consider:  Mark 13:10; Rev. 6: 9-11, 7: 9-14, 14:4-7;

FAILURE: Fail to repent of their sin and receive the gospel, follow and worship the antichrist. "And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts"  Rev. 9:20-21  Consider: Rev. 13:1-4

JUDGMENT: Damned without hope. "For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness." 2 Thes.7-12   Consider: Rom. 1:18-32

7. THE DISPENSATION OF DIVINE GOVERNMENT. (Kingdom age)  Rev.. 20:1-10 (Ezek. 36:25-38)  Time: Between Armageddon (Rev. 19:11-21; & Ezek. Chapt. 38-39) and the great white throne judgment, (Rev. 20:11-15) a period of 1000 years.

RESPONSIBILITY Opportunity to show faith in God. New borns choosing to trust the Gospel and receiving Christ as Lord and Saviour, and walking in that faith. Obey and worship Christ. "And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one. Zec. 14:9:..... And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles." Zec. 14:16   Consider: Zech. 8:20-23; Isa. 11: 3-5; Rom. 11:26

FAILURE  Final rebellion. "And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them." Rev. 2O:7-9

JUDGMENT  Eternal existence in the lake of fire. "And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." Rev. 20:11-15

                               The Eternal State Rev. 21-22

The New Heaven and a New Earth: Rev. 21:1-8 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband......"

This is the completed church of God in its new and perfect state, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband, [the Lord Jesus Christ] beautiful, and perfect in all holiness, worthy for the habitation of the Lord Jesus Christ in all His glory.  3"And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God......"

The presence of God with His church is the glory of the church, and the culmination of Jesus prayer for all that are His. Consider: John 17:21-24 "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. 24Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world."

Rev. 21:4 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new......."

This new and blessed state will be free from all trouble and sorrow. All the effects of former life with the sin nature under the curse and all its grief and troubles shall be done away. It will be a place of absolute joy and ecstasy.  "And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son......."

Who are the over comers?  Consider: John 5:4 "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." Rev. 2:11 "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death." 8"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."
Something to think about: "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?  for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." 2 Cor. 6:14-18
The New Jerusalem: Rev. 21:9-27 "And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. 10And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,....."

Here we have a vision of the triumphant church in the Holy land of Jerusalem, the heavenly Canaan, the promised land. Consider the beauty of it all! 11"Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; 12And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 14And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. 16And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. 17And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. 18And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. 19And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; 20The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. 21And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. 22And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. 23And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. 24And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. 25And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. 26And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. 27And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life."
The New River and Paradise: Rev. 22:1-5 "And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: 4And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. 5And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever"

Consider: 1 Cor. 2:9 "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."
The Assurance of Jesus Return: Rev. 22:6-21 "And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. 7Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. 8And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God....."

The Last Message to the Church: 10"And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. 11He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 12And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be......."
The order is given to leave the book of the prophecy open. That is, these things are yet to be and all are accountable to the responsibility of proclaiming it till its fulfillment. All that get this message are to compare the prophecy with the events, that they be aware of the season they are in.

Note: The rapture sealed the fate of those that lived on earth during the presentation of the Gospel by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Consider: 2 Thes. 2:5-12 "Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."  Therefore, the rapture sealed the fate of those that lived on earth during the presentation of the Gospel by the power of the Holy Spirit and rejected it they will go on in their ungodly state with out hope of being saved . Vs 11a "He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still...."

Likewise, the rapture sealed the fate of those that lived on earth during the presentation of the Gospel by the power of the Holy Spirit and received Christ. Vs. 11b "....and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still."

Consider the following:

Warning  Mark 13:28-37 "Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: 29So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. 30Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. 31Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. 32But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. 33Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. 34For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. 35Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: 36Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. 37And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch."

Warning  Matthew 24:42-51 "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. 45Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? 46Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 47Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods..........48But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; 49And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; 50The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, 51And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."  These are the unsaved who lived through the Millennium Kingdom and having refused to accept Christ rule follow Satan, when he was let out of the pit to revolt against God.

Remember Jesus said in Rev.22:13-15 "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15 For without are dogs, [figuratively of publicans / extortioners and sometimes said of heathens] and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.....These are all those that have been cast out from the presence of God into the lake of fire."

There are no blessings there.  "The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name." Rev.14:10-11

Rev. 22:16 -21 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. 17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely......

Warning: 18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.....

This warning should cause all to think twice before saying God said this or that.  Better take time to study to know what He said, and not change it. It is the Holy Word's of the Almighty!  Consider: Det. 4:2, 12:32; Prov. 30:26

20He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen."
This book when compared with the events of our times should have the following effects upon the saved:.......

It should burden us to pray for the Jew to receive Christ as their Messiah.

It should burden us for the unsaved, for all that will go through the things written in this book.

It should burden us, with the need to get out its' message to repent and be saved before these things come to pass.

It should burden us, to be looking for the Lord's coming to take us home.

Remember His Promise: John 14:1-3 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

It should burden us to be doing the Lord's will when He comes for us. "Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 17Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." 2 Pet. 3:11-18
Self test: on the 7 Dispensations of Gods grace.

These questions are more than an academic quiz, they help you think through the facts you have learned, so that you can form convictions as to the will of God for your life. Remember meditation on Godís Word is the key to gaining wisdom, and only when it is applied in your life are you assured of being in the will of God and the place of His blessing
