Fogbo Unit 1a

INTRODUCTION:

What is Calvary Home Missions? This is non-profit web based ministry devoted to Evangelism of unbelievers, and Discipleship of the saved. It's founder and author is Rev. Warren T. Smith has made it free to all and put it in trust in the estate Warren T. and Joyce E. Smith. It's teaching (doctrine) is it's constitution on which it stands.  As many speak using the same words, but have different meanings behind them, let me clarify what I mean by Evangelism, Biblicist, Discipleship, and the Family of God. EVANGELISM as I understand it and apply it, is taking the Word of God to those that have not heard it, or those under false doctrine. A BIBLICIST as I understand it and apply it, is one who interprets the Bible literally, as the sole authority for faith and practice.  "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."  2 Peter 1:21   Consider it's importance 2 Tim. 2:15, 3:16-17

A DISCIPLE of Christ, is one who embraces and assists in spreading the teachings of another, in this case an active adherent, follower of the life of Jesus Christ. In effect a disciple of Christ is His ambassador in and to this world. "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."  2 Cor. 5:18-21

The FAMILY OF GOD as I understand it and apply it, is composed of all that have received Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord. "He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1:11-13 "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit." 1 Cor. 12:13  "And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. 18For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 19Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;" Ephes. 2:16-19

THE CHURCH Obviously all those that have accepted the Lord do not live in same area of the world, therefore cannot assemble together as one big family. Just as any other family that are scattered over the country in which they live, those that live close together regularly meet together for fellowship and helping one another, so it is with the family of God. In the Bible such assemblies (ekklesia,) are referred to as the church of such and such place.

THE LOCAL CHURCH is an assembly of people who have received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, who have made an open profession and were baptized by immersion demonstrating their belief and commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord of their life.

BIBLICAL FUNDAMENTALIST believe the Bible to be the Word of God and accept it as our only authority for governing the church, our faith and practice of life. We believe that all in the family of God are to have a walk in life in harmony with the life and character of our Lord Jesus Christ. For that reason, those in the family of God, assemble together to hear and study Godís Word. Secondly, through it they might be conformed to the image and likeness of Jesus Christ. Desiring that through such study they will be equipped to do the will of God individually and collectively, as a member of the body of Christ.

OUR PURPOSE: We seek to further the knowledge of the God given responsibilities, duties and obligations for the individual and collective members in the Church, and to each other, as a part of the family of God, as set forth in Godís Word. We believe each member of the body of CHRIST has been placed in the church with purpose and design by the Lord, for carrying out of the great commission, the work of the church, and edification of each other. We acknowledge the Church is an assembly of imperfect people, called and empowered by God as His ambassadors to do His perfect work. Therefore, we accept our duty to evangelize the lost, restore the fallen, encourage and lift up the downtrodden, to bring hope to the hopeless and comfort the hurting. Identifying us to the anointed ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord." Luke 4:18-19

I feel my first duty is to teach those that use our web-site, and course of study, to be able to put our teaching to the test of God's Word.

HOW TO TEST THIS AND EVERY OTHER TEACHER OR PREACHER.

1. Make notes of what is said, check out all the scripture, see if he quotes Scriptures correctly. (I use the King James Version)

2. Look at the context read the surrounding verses or chapters if necessary to understand what the Scriptures are saying. Look to see the following: Who is speaking? Who is being spoken to? When? Where? And Why?

3. Use a concordance to see what other verses say about the same subjects throughout the Bible. (Naves Topical Bible is helpful)

4. Look up problem words in a Bible Dictionary or an Exhaustive Concordance such as Strongs.

5. Look for the Principle involved (law, rule, or source of action) A principle tells you what to do or not to do.

6. Look for the Precept (the method the principle operates). The precept tells you how to do or follow the principle.

REMEMBER: THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS FOR A TRUE DOCTRINE. (TEACHING)

1. The doctrine must be in agreement with all other Scripture on the subject. (Let Scripture interpret Scripture, not men. Beware of illustrations that redefine the text, or principle to mans agendas.

2. The doctrine must be in harmony with all Biblical principles.

3. The doctrine must be in harmony with God's nature and character. (Attributes)

Attributes of God's SOVEREIGN POWERS and CHARACTER.

He is Omnipotent (all powerful)                   He is Holy (pure)
He is Omniscient (all knowing)                     He is Righteous (just)
He is Omnipresent (ever present)                 He is Love (unconditional)
He is Eternal (existence without end)            He is Merciful (involved)
He is Immutable (unchanging) provision)     He is Grace (unmerited)

God cannot do, nor require anything of you, that is in conflict with the attributes of His nature and character.

THEREFORE, NO TRUE DOCTRINE CAN BE IN CONFLICT WITH ANY OF HIS ATTRIBUTES.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: The only time you can get anything out of a Biblical sermon or Bible study, is when you apply it to your life. Consider this, Scripture says: "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend." Proverbs 27:17 This Scripture speaks of our personal responsibility of exhortation in helping a friend be true to his commitment to Christ so consider the following. . . .2 Tim. 1:8 "Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;"

2 Tim. 1:12 "For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day." 2 Tim. 2:3 "Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 2 Tim. 2:9-13 "Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. [10] Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. [11] It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: [12] If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: [13] If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

Hebrews 10:24  "And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:"

Thank the Lord for His will in all things" 2Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: [13] But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy" 1 Peter 4:12-13

For many years I was jealous of other men's talents in speaking, and writing and so I have said little in this course, letting the Scriptures speak for themselves. Praise God His Word has taught me, mans thinking and agendas may be wrong, but His is always right, Amen.   Proving Romans 8:28 to be true: "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Praise the Lord our ENDORSEMENT proves Silence speaks louder than words.  In all these years, 1995 to 2012 not any one has written me of an error in quoting the King James Version of the Bible or its rendition in this book, or the book 'See The Shepherd And Bishop of Our Souls" or the "Family of God Bible Outlines" used in this course offered by us, AMEN.

This entire web-site is dedicated to the Lord, may it bring all glory to Him, for who and what He is.

I also thank my family and friends for their help in this work, they have stood by me when I was right, and questioned and exhorted me, when I was wrong. I praise the Lord for them, and their faithfulness and counsel, in helping me to please the Lord. Thank you, thank you, thank you, and my the Lord bless you all. I love you Warren

We are constantly adding to and upgrading our web-site. We are always open to suggestions as to how we can improve our site, and make it more user friendly and more valuable to you. E-Mail us from the web-site or directly at.
