Here is a E-Mail I received Feb. 21 to think about... It informs us of a good reason to protect our children from the modern dating mentality...

Singles Survey Reveals Casual Views on Sex

A new survey done for Match.com is shedding some light on what singles are saying about their sexual behavior, CBN News reports. According to the survey, 42 percent would not date a virgin, 47 percent report having a "friends with benefits" relationship, and 44 percent of women and 63 percent of men have had one-night stands. Almost a third say they've had sex by the third date and almost half said they had sex by the sixth date. At the same time, the Centers for Disease Control released two new studies Wednesday showing that the United States faces an ongoing and severe epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases. More than 19 million new infections are reported every year, up from 15 million in 1996, and half of the new cases affect people ages 15 to 24.

What does God say about sex, and how it is to be used?

God blesses sex for both companionship and procreation, I believe the clearest and best explanation is expressed in the Holman Bible Dictionary, as follows "(Gen. 1:28; 2:18-25). Fertility of women was a blessing while barrenness was a curse (Gen. 29:30-30:24; 1 Sam. 1:5-20).

Basically, the Bible sees sex as good because God created it. The sinful nature of man appears to have corrupted Gods good gift.  The sinful nature of man appears to show up outside the first garden, a negative attitude toward nudity appears (Gen. 3:7,21; Luke 8:27,35). "Uncovering one's nakedness" refers to a shameful, incestual, or otherwise forbidden sex act have corrupted God's good gift. God's people are expected to exercise self-control, not by asceticism (Col. 2:23; 1 Tim. 4:1-5), but by the power of the Holy Spirit overcoming sexual impulses (Gal. 5:16-25)

For the non celibate, marriage is the only approved outlet for sexual expression (1 Cor. 7:9; Titus 2:5-6).  This view equates human wholeness with holiness of life (1 Thess. 4:3-5).  One's sexuality is a vital part of Christian holiness and not a necessary evil to be rejected.  Within the limits of marriage, sex is for procreation of children, the enhancement of the one-flesh relationship, and the pleasure of the married couple whose love can be nourished thereby. Outside of the limits established by God, sex becomes an evil and destructive force in human life, calling for God's redemptive power to deliver humans trapped therein.  Marital sexual love is both a gift and a responsibility from God to be consecrated by the Word and prayer." Holman Bible Dictionary

This explanation makes sense of the fact sex is not an escape from lifes troubles or a toy or to be used for entertainment.   It is an awesome responsibility, but a beautiful one if used properly.

Think about it!    What is it for you?

Now go do what is right in the eyes of the Lord and may your decisions bring you the promise Romans 8:28 " And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. " And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
